Ieuenctid Tysul Youth is a voluntary youth organisation and registered charity based in Llandysul, West Wales. During the last 28 years, our purpose has evolved to provide a wide range of education and support services to young people aged ten to twenty five. The main focus of our work is to support young people through the transition to adulthood, from dependence to independence.
What we offer is a valuable service in an under resourced part of Wales. We work towards improving the quality of life and range of opportunities available to young people in an area known for its rural isolation, deprivation, poor wages, low skills and high unemployment.
We employ four part-time staff and our base is the Tysul Youth Centre (left, originally the Peniel Wesleyan Chapel). During the last year we have provided a broad range of services including an evening youth club, a daytime drop-in facility and a NEET (not in education, employment or training) project for young people aged 14+ to encourage progression in to mainstream education, training or employment.

Personal and social development in an
informal setting
Our work hinges around personal and social development in an informal setting, and we are guided by the Youth Work curriculum for Wales. We work with the statutory youth service and take part in activities with other youth groups, local community & environmental projects and volunteering projects further a field. Young people are encouraged to participate, to be actively involved in decision making processes and where possible, to assume responsibility for organising their programmes. Whenever possible we provide a bilingual service and young people converse in which ever language they choose.
We are a member of Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Youth Cymru, CAVO (Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations), Ceredigion Youth Organisations Forum, and Llandysul & Pontweli Ymlaen.
